NEW DELHI – The Indian National Congress (INC) has released its list of 27 candidates for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections scheduled for April 23, 2026.

The party is contesting 28 out of the 234 seats in the state as a key partner in the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance.

Key Nominations:

  • K. Selvaperunthagai (TNuoCC President): To contest from Sriperumbudur (SC).
  • S. Rajesh Kumar (CLP Leader): Fielded from the Killiyoor seat.
  • A. Chella Kumar (Former MP): Nominated for the Krishnagiri constituency.

Strategic Outlook

Banking on its strong alliance with the DMK, the Congress aims to consolidate its traditional bastions across the state. In the 2021 elections, the party secured 18 seats, and it now seeks to maintain this momentum against the AIADMK-BJP front.
