CHENNAI – Actor-politician Vijay has officially launched his electoral bid, announcing he will contest from both Perambur and Trichy East in the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections on April 23, 2026. Leading the newly formed Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), Vijay positioned the election as a "whistle revolution" against the established political order.

High-Stakes Battles:

  • Targeting the DMK: TVK is taking on the state's top leadership directly, fielding VS Babu against CM MK Stalin (Kolathur) and Selvam against Deputy CM Udhayanidhi Stalin (Chepauk).
  • Key Candidates: General Secretary Aadhav Arjuna will contest from Villivakkam, while Sengottaiyan has been fielded in Gobichettipalayam.
  • Core Agenda: Vijay’s platform centers on a drug-free state, financial aid for unemployed youth over 29, and a new law for transparency in government hiring.

The contest is now a four-cornered battle between the DMK, the AIADMK-BJP (NDA), TVK, and the PMK-Sasikala alliance.
