GUWAHATI – A fresh political row has erupted in the Assam election campaign as Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma targeted Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) candidate Kunki Chowdhury over her mother’s social media activity.
Speaking in Khowang, the Chief Minister alleged that the candidate’s mother, Sujata Gurung Chowdhury, had posted content "hurtful to religious sentiments."

- Religious Sentiments: Sarma claimed the candidate’s mother posted photos of consuming beef and made remarks challenging Sanatan Dharma, including references to Lord Krishna.
