SINGRAULI — The Central Mine Planning & Design Institute (CMPDI), in partnership with Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), successfully completed a high-tech geospatial survey at the Block B, Gorbi Area from March 13–16, 2026. The initiative is part of a rigorous framework to monitor and plan environmental restoration following mine closures.

Technical Execution

The survey utilized advanced drone technology to capture high-resolution data across the leasehold area:

  • Aerial Platform: A Q6V2 quadcopter was deployed at an altitude of 100 meters.
  • Precision Mapping: The drone was integrated with DGPS (Differential Global Positioning System) technology to ensure centimeter-level accuracy.
  • Data Processing: Collected imagery is being processed at CMPDI Headquarters to generate orthophoto mosaics and detailed contour plans.

Strategic Importance

By leveraging these geospatial tools, CMPDI and NCL can precisely track land reclamation progress and ensure total compliance with environmental mandate guidelines. This digital approach replaces traditional manual surveys, offering a faster and more transparent method for sustainable mine management and site closure planning.
