RailTel Secures ₹94 Crore Order for LHB Coach Surveillance
NEW DELHI – RailTel Corporation of India Ltd, the Navratna PSU under the Ministry of Railways, has successfully expanded its railway security portfolio. On January 30, 2026, the company announced it has received a formal Letter of Acceptance (LoA) and work order from the Modern Coach Factory (MCF), Raebareli.
The contract, valued at ₹94.23 crore, underscores the government's continued focus on enhancing passenger safety through advanced digital surveillance across the Indian Railways network.
Project Scope: High-Tech Security for LHB Coaches
The project involves a comprehensive technological overhaul of the surveillance systems within Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) coaches, which are the high-speed, anti-telescopic coaches currently used for premium trains like Rajdhani, Shatabdi, and Duronto.
- Primary Work: Supply, installation, and commissioning of IP-based Video Surveillance Systems (VSS).
- Compliance: The systems will adhere to the rigorous RDSO (Research Designs and Standards Organisation) specifications.
- Lifecycle Support: The contract includes an initial 3-year warranty, followed by a 5-year Comprehensive Annual Maintenance Contract (CAMC).
Long-Term Execution and Revenue
One of the most notable aspects of this contract is its extended service timeline, which provides RailTel with a steady, long-term revenue stream for nearly a decade.
