NEW DELHI – State-run engineering major Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has officially received a Notification of Award (NoA) from NTPC Ltd for the Stage-II 3x800 MW Telangana Supercritical Thermal Power Project.
The contract, valued at over ₹13,500 crore (excluding GST), involves the complete design, manufacturing, and commissioning of the main plant package—including boilers, turbines, and generators—in the Peddapalli district.
Project & Financial Highlights:
- Execution Timeline: The project is slated for completion within 62 months from the date of the award.
- Strategic Milestone: BHEL originally emerged as the successful bidder in October 2024 and had been operating under a "limited notice to proceed" for basic engineering since November 2024.
- Strong Earnings: The announcement follows a robust Q3 FY26 performance, where BHEL reported a consolidated net profit of ₹390 crore, a nearly 190% increase from ₹135 crore in the previous year.
- Revenue Growth: Revenue from operations rose 16.4% year-on-year to ₹8,473 crore, driven by high execution rates across its power and industrial segments.
The deal reinforces BHEL's dominant position in India's thermal power equipment market as the nation ramps up its baseload power capacity.
