IAEA: No Nuclear Damage Reported Following US Strikes on Iran

VIENNA (March 2, 2026) — The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirmed today that Iran’s nuclear installations remains intact following recent US military strikes. IAEA Chief Rafael Mariano Grossi reported that key sites, including the Bushehr Power Plant and the Tehran Research Reactor, show no signs of damage "up to now."

Key Updates:

  • Radiation Levels: No elevation above normal background levels has been detected in Iran or its bordering countries.
  • Communication: Efforts to reach Iranian nuclear authorities have been unsuccessful due to conflict-related disruptions.
  • Safety Warning: Grossi urged "maximum restraint," warning that the presence of operational reactors and fuel sites in the region significantly increases the risk to nuclear safety.

"I reiterate my call on all parties to exercise maximum restraint to avoid further escalation," Grossi stated during a special session in Vienna.
