MUNICH (Feb 15, 2026) — External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met with G7 leaders at the 62nd Munich Security Conference to drive the agenda for UN Security Council (UNSC) reform.

Highlights from the Summit:

• Strategic Security: Jaishankar framed India as a key global "first responder," highlighting its role in safeguarding maritime sea lanes and building resilient undersea cable infrastructure.
• Economic Momentum: The Minister leveraged India’s newly signed Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the EU, which covers 25% of global GDP, to demonstrate India's growing influence in a multipolar world.
• UN@80 Initiative: He reiterated that for the UN's 80th anniversary, the Security Council must undergo "meaningful reform" to reflect modern realities.

The talks underscored that India’s strategic autonomy remains the anchor of its foreign policy, even as it deepens economic ties with the West.
