Assam Elections 2026: BJP Unveils ₹5 Lakh Crore "Sankalp Patra"

GUWAHATI – Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and CM Himanta Biswa Sarma released the BJP's 31-point manifesto on March 31, 2026, centering on a ₹5 lakh crore investment to position Assam as India's "Eastern Gateway."

Key Legal & Cultural Pledges:

  • Uniform Civil Code (UCC): Implementation within three months, excluding tribal areas.
  • Anti-Jihad Laws: New legislation to target "Love Jihad" and "Land Jihad."
  • Identity Protection: Expediting the detection and pushback of illegal immigrants under the 1950 Act and freeing religious lands from encroachment.

Economic & Social Roadmap:

  • Infrastructure: ₹18,000 crore for the "Badh Mukt Assam Mission" to end chronic flooding.
  • Employment: Creation of 2 lakh government jobs and a "One District, One University/Medical College" policy.
  • Welfare: Raising Orunodoi monthly transfers to ₹3,000 for women and increasing tea garden wages to ₹500 per day.

The manifesto aims to build on a decade of transformation as the state prepares for the April 9 polls.
