RailTel Wins ₹26.72 Crore Optical Fiber Project from South East Central Railway

NEW DELHI — RailTel Corporation of India Limited has secured a major domestic contract valued at ₹26.72 crore from the South East Central Railway. The project involves the comprehensive implementation of an Optical Fiber Cable (OFC) network to enhance regional rail connectivity.

According to a regulatory filing released on March 7, 2026, RailTel received the formal Letter of Acceptance (LoA) on Friday evening. The infrastructure project is slated for completion by March 5, 2027.

Project Scope and Execution

The contract covers the end-to-end lifecycle of OFC installation, including:

  • Logistics: Supply and transportation of high-grade optical fiber.
  • Civil Works: Trenching, laying, backfilling, and horizontal directional drilling.
  • Technical Installation: HDPE pipe insertion, cable blowing, jointing, and final termination.

Strategic Importance

This win reinforces RailTel’s position as a leading provider of telecom infrastructure for the Indian Railways. The company clarified that the contract was awarded through a standard competitive process and does not involve any related party transactions.

"The project is a significant addition to our domestic portfolio, aimed at modernizing communication systems across the South East Central Railway network," the company stated.
