New Narangi–Agartala Intercity Train to Launch on March 13

AGARTALA — The Northeast Frontier Railway has announced a new intercity train service connecting Narangi (near Guwahati) and Agartala, set to commence operations on March 13, 2026.

The service is designed to significantly enhance connectivity between Assam’s Barak Valley, the hill districts, and Tripura, providing a more convenient travel option for the region's passengers.

Key Service Details:

  • Route: Narangi (Guwahati) to Agartala.
  • Launch Date: March 13, 2026.
  • Major Halts: The train will stop at key stations including Jagiroad, Hojai, Lumding, New Haflong, Badarpur, New Karimganj, Dharmanagar, Kumarghat, and Ambassa.
  • Impact: Tripura Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury noted that the service would provide a major boost to regional mobility and trade.

The Minister expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister and the Railways Minister for addressing the long-standing demand for improved rail links in the Northeast.
