SECI to Host Vendor Development Meet to Boost Women and SC/ST Participation on GeM

NEW DELHI – The Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) is set to organize a Vendor Development Programme (VDP) cum Buyer–Seller Interaction Meet for the 2025–26 fiscal year. Scheduled for January 22, 2026, the initiative aims to strengthen SECI's engagement with Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs), specifically focusing on the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) platform.
The theme of the event is "Promoting Participation of Women, SC/ST, and Other MSEs on GeM," aligning with the national mandate to diversify public procurement.

Objectives: Empowering Small Entrepreneurs
The VDP is designed to bridge the gap between small-scale suppliers and the renewable energy giant's procurement needs. Key focus areas include:
- GeM Onboarding: Helping MSEs navigate the registration and product-listing process on the GeM portal.
- Policy Awareness: Educating vendors on the Public Procurement Policy, which mandates that Central PSUs procure at least 25% of their requirements from MSEs.
- Inclusion Targets: Specifically reaching out to women-owned enterprises (3% sub-target) and SC/ST entrepreneurs (4% sub-target) to ensure they benefit from SECI’s tender opportunities.
- Bidding Procedures: Clarifying technical and financial compliance requirements for solar and clean-energy-related tenders.
Strategic Impact
As a Navratna CPSU, SECI is a pivotal player in India's goal to achieve 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030. By fostering a robust local vendor ecosystem, SECI aims to enhance supply chain resilience while supporting the "Make in India" initiative. This meet serves as a direct platform for MSEs to voice their challenges and explore long-term business opportunities in the burgeoning green energy sector.
