Patel Engineering Secures ₹910 Crore Order for Renukaji Dam

SHIMLA — Patel Engineering Limited has officially received a Letter of Acceptance (LoA) from Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (HPPCL) for Package-1 of the Renukaji Dam Project. The contract, valued at ₹910.08 crore (including GST), marks a major milestone for the Mumbai-based infrastructure firm.
Project Scope & Timeline
Located at Dadahu in the Sirmaur district, the project is part of a "Project of National Importance" designed to boost water security and renewable energy.
- Core Infrastructure: Construction of three major diversion tunnels (9.5-meter diameter) with lengths ranging from 1.3 km to 1.6 km.
- Support Works: Development of 6 km of access roads and the construction of inlet/outlet structures.
- Systems: Installation of advanced hydro-mechanical and monitoring systems to ensure long-term operational safety.
- Deadline: The project is slated for completion within 30 months.
Strategic Impact
The award follows Patel Engineering's earlier designation as the lowest bidder (L1) in February 2026. Managing Director Kavita Shirvaikar noted that the project reinforces the company’s 76-year legacy in tunneling and hydropower. Once complete, the Renukaji Dam is expected to significantly augment water supply to Delhi and support regional power generation.
