NEW DELHI – NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) has officially announced the commercial operation of an additional 125 MW solar capacity at its flagship 500 MW Bhadla Solar PV Project in Rajasthan. This successful commissioning, effective from January 31, 2026, marks a critical step in NTPC’s aggressive pivot toward clean energy.

The certification for the project was formally issued by the Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Limited (RREC) on February 3, 2026.

Expanding the Bhadla Footprint

The Bhadla Solar PV Project, located in the Phalodi district of Rajasthan, is being developed in phases by NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (a wholly-owned subsidiary of NGEL).

• Phased Progress: This latest 125 MW addition follows the successful commissioning of the first 300 MW tranche in mid-January 2026.

• World-Class Hub: The project is a key component of the Bhadla Solar Park, which is recognized as one of the largest solar clusters globally, benefiting from the Thar Desert's high solar irradiance.

• Capex Push: Raised ₹1,500 crore through Non-Convertible Debentures (NCDs) to fund ongoing renewable projects and green hydrogen initiatives.

• IPO Deployment: The company confirmed that the ₹10,000 crore raised in its blockbuster IPO last year has been fully deployed toward its expansion roadmap.
