NLC India Becomes First Coal PSU to Receive Training Excellence Accreditation

NEYVELI / NEW DELHI – NLC India Limited (NLCIL) has made history by becoming the first Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) under the Ministry of Coal to receive accreditation for "Training Excellence" from the National Standards for Civil Services Training Institutes (NSCSTI). This prestigious recognition, granted under the aegis of the Capacity Building Commission (CBC), Government of India, was formally announced on January 21, 2026.

The accreditation was awarded to NLCIL’s Learning and Development Centre (L&DC) following a rigorous evaluation process that assessed the institution across several high-level pillars of educational and operational quality.

Rigorous Evaluation Criteria

The accreditation is based on the NSCSTI 2.0 framework, which aims to standardize and elevate the quality of civil service and public sector training across India. NLCIL’s L&DC was evaluated on several critical metrics:

  • Training Design & TNA: Effectiveness of Training Needs Assessment and the relevance of course structures.
  • Faculty Development: Quality and continuous upskilling of internal and external subject matter experts.
  • Digitalization: Integration of modern e-learning tools and digital delivery platforms for anytime-anywhere learning.
  • Trainee Support: Availability of robust infrastructure and post-training support systems for learners.
  • Governance & Quality Assurance: Transparency in operations and a systematic approach to maintaining training standards.

Strategic Impact: Empowering Human Capital

Shri Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, Chairman and Managing Director of NLCIL, expressed that this milestone validates the company’s sustained focus on developing a "future-ready" workforce. As NLCIL embarks on its Vision 2030—which includes scaling its power generation to 20 GW and mining capacity to 100 MTPA—the role of its L&DC in technical and leadership upskilling becomes even more critical.
