Adani Green Energy Sets Global Record with 5 GW Capacity Addition in FY26

AHMEDABAD – Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) has achieved a historic milestone by adding 5,051 MW of renewable capacity in the 2025-26 financial year. This marks the highest annual greenfield expansion by any company globally, excluding China, bringing AGEL’s total operational portfolio to 19.3 GW.
A major portion of this growth was driven by the Khavda renewable energy plant in Gujarat, the world’s largest of its kind. The new capacity includes 3,409 MW of solar, 686 MW of wind, and 956 MW of wind-solar hybrid projects.
Key Highlights:
- Global Leadership: AGEL now ranks as a top-tier global green utility, with its 19.3 GW portfolio expected to offset 36 million tonnes of CO2 annually.
- Technological Edge: The Khavda site utilizes 5.2 MW wind turbines and waterless robotic cleaning for solar modules to maximize efficiency.
- Energy Storage: The company also commissioned 1,376 MWh of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) to ensure grid stability.
- Future Targets: Following this "watershed moment," Executive Director Sagar Adani reaffirmed the company’s trajectory toward achieving 50 GW by 2030.
This record-breaking expansion solidifies India’s position on the global clean energy map and reinforces AGEL's status as the country's leading sustainability performer in the power sector.
