Assam CM Inaugurates SJVN’s 70-MW Dhubri Solar Project; State’s First Large-Scale Facility

DHUBRI/SHIMLA – In a landmark push for renewable energy in Northeast India, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma officially inaugurated the 70-MW Dhubri Solar Power Project on Wednesday, January 14, 2026. Developed by SJVN Green Energy Ltd (SGEL), this project stands as Assam’s first large-scale solar installation and marks SJVN’s operational debut in the North-Eastern region.
The project, located at Village Khudigaon Pt-II in the Bilasipara Revenue Circle, was inaugurated in the presence of state officials and the leadership of SJVN, a Navratna CPSE.

The Dhubri Solar Project was developed under a competitive bidding process initiated by the Assam Power Distribution Company Ltd (APDCL).
