NEW DELHI – NHPC Limited, India’s premier hydropower company, has announced a significant transition in its senior management team effective January 1, 2026. The changes come as part of the company’s strategic succession planning and were formally disclosed in compliance with SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.

The transition follows the retirement of Shri Sandeep Kumar, Executive Director, who attained superannuation on December 31, 2025. During his tenure, Shri Kumar was instrumental in driving operational efficiency and overseeing key strategic initiatives across NHPC’s power sector portfolio.

To fill the leadership roles, the company has announced the promotion of two seasoned veterans:

Shri Rajeev Jain: A B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering graduate, Shri Jain joined NHPC in June 1997. With 28 years of extensive experience in the hydropower sector, he steps into his new leadership role with a deep understanding of the company's operational framework.

Shri Abhayanand Thakur: Bringing 29 years of expertise to the position, Shri Thakur holds a B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering and has been with the organization since December 1996.

In a formal filing to the BSE Limited and the National Stock Exchange of India Limited, NHPC emphasized that these appointments reflect the corporation's commitment to leadership excellence and operational continuity. The promotions ensure that the Navratna CPSE remains well-positioned to execute its upcoming renewable energy and hydropower projects.
